The Nero Marquina is a black coloured marble, with fine grained occasional areas with white vein-age and fossils remains. It appeared as a result of recrystallisation of calcareous reeves. It presents a very dark black-coloured and uniform background. Its main variations depend on the intensity of the black colour, abundance of white vein-age and white fossils. In terms of hardness, the Nero Marquina is considered a hard natural stone. The Nero Marquina marble is explored east of Bilbao and at about 420 kilometres northeast of the Spanish capital Madrid. Μarquina marble is very popular in designers and architects. From the practical point of view Nero Marquina is appreciated for its excellent technical characteristics. It is possible to recommend it for application in any area. More over appearance of a stone is influenced by the chosen surface processing. For example, after bush-hammering Nero Marquina acquires grey shade with black and white impregnations. Polishing, on the contrary, will saturate the, making it more contrast and depth so the surface of Nero Marquina will look simply bottomless.
